Justin Trudeau's statement about Boston Bomb Blast
First of all I have my deepest sympathies for all the victims of the Boston Bomb Blast incident. I pray for those who lost their lives to stay in peace and I wish speedy recovery to the injured and the survivors and pray to God to give them strength and courage to overcome the loss they have suffered. Under no circumstances the culprits behind this incident should be spared as President Obama said in his statement as well. Whether it was a domestic or a foreign involvement, and by a single person or a group, but one thing is crystal clear that those beasts targeted the innocent people who were simply gathered there to enjoy and support the participants in the marathon event. Moreover it was an international event.
The victims were the first priority to get immediate medical attention . Of course Government had to take immediate safety and security initiatives as well. On one hand people are in pain due to injuries and need immediate medical help but at the same time people are upset, angry and curious to know who did it and why? Whether it was an individual or a group within the Boston community or outside of community, public demand answers from the government. At the same time they might have a fear that what is going to happen next? Is there any more bombs that may hurt more people?
At the same time some may be thinking why? Why us? What was their fault? Was it an local eccentric or a terrorist group? Did local or Federal government know about any threats which they might have ignored?
Such events effects the most who were present there but it also effects the rest of the country, neighbour countries and the rest of the world. People in the immediate vicinity normally are effected the most. Being Canadian we are the neighbour to United States and it bruised us as well. At least nobody expect such incident to happens during such peaceful events. Casualties happens during wars but why here?
So the immediate actions required by the government at all levels and the community are to support and help the victims and their families in every possible way. Secondly at the same time, it is equally important for the government to ensure the safety and security of the local and rest of the country community.
Third important and very urgent job for government is to find out who did it and why ? This is where lots of time government who act in haste without solid ground put themselves into serious troubles? One thing is clear that United states foreign affairs are under lot of stress and strain after wars against Afghanistan and Iraq. Some countries are in direct confrontation with USA like North Korea due to some other issues. Being a super power USA has allies and enemies around the world. Other than international issues like North Korea, USA had been sensed by middle east majority Muslims to be Israel ally and anti-Palestine. And after unfortunate incident of 9/11 in 2001, USA sidelined United Nations and took initiative at their own with the help of England and some other countries. Whether it was wrong or right, but certainly USA failed to prove that Iraq had the weapons of mass destruction. Iraq suffered major financial loss and human casualties but biggest loss to USA was hard feelings against Americans by Muslim world. It seems like Muslims portray America as Anti-Muslim!
These anti-Muslim sentiments are the main concern for USA and to reverse the sentiments of Muslims, America need to prove its leadership as a world leader. USA could win any war around the world on the borders but winning the war within country is not easy without winning the confidence of Muslims inside and outside of USA.
The hardest challenge for any government is the domestic terrorism. That is what USA has now. Even further, it become extremely challenging for USA being an Ambassador of Peace around the world to deal with domestic terrorism. Pointing fingers on non-christens especially Muslims is not very wise without solid grounds. It could further deteriorate their relations with Muslims inside and around the world.
But it does not mean Government should not further investigate the matter. It is advisable to appeal to people not to speculate on this matter and people should remain unbiased until culprits are spotted and executed.
It is evident such incidents can not be planned by some local excluded eccentric personality but it is not politically or ethically correct to blame any one community or religious group without any solid ground.
The pre-emptive attack by USA against Iraq after 9/11 costed Americans very dearly and America can not afford to make another silly mistake to blame in hurry to any body without any solid grounds. And who knows , until it is clear who did it, may be it was a non-Muslim American. Then what!
I think this is what Justin Trudeau was trying to make a point about but author seems to be jumping out of his pants to blame the young politician for his insensitivity to the victims of Boston Bomb Blast. Although he may not have had made a very refined speech or comments but his intentions seems genuine and politically and ethically correct.
